Brazil stablecoin ban: what changed on October 1 for businesses selling to Brazilians

On October 1, 2026, Brazil's Resolution BCB 561 took effect: eFX cross-border payment providers can no longer settle with partners abroad in stablecoins or any other crypto. The same night, Resolution BCB 591 made transfers of US$10,000 or more to or from self-custodied wallets reportable to COAF. This analysis lays out Brazil's crypto rule calendar through May 2027, explains why the central bank took stablecoins out of the plumbing rather than out of people's wallets, and maps the three routes a business selling to Brazilians now has, including where non-custodial stablecoin acceptance fits and where it doesn't.

Stablecoin payments for headless commerce: is there a plugin for Medusa, Saleor or Vendure?

Yes, and Sylius too. Payzum publishes open-source integrations for all four headless frameworks, each built on the framework's own payment extension point: a Medusa payment provider, a Saleor payment app, a Vendure payment handler and a Sylius 2 gateway. The buyer pays USDC or USDT on a hosted checkout, a signed webhook marks the order paid, and the money settles to your own wallet. Here is how each one hooks into checkout, six checks for any crypto plugin, and the setup step by step.

USDC Noble deprecation: Circle is retiring a chain, and the network you accept stablecoins on has an expiry date

On September 10, 2026 Circle announced it is discontinuing USDC and its legacy cross-chain protocol, CCTP V1, on Noble, the Cosmos chain built as USDC's home in the IBC ecosystem. Minting through Circle Mint stops October 13, CCTP V1 is paused December 1, and the Noble USDC contract is paused January 12, 2027, with a manual redemption portal after that. This analysis sets the USDC Noble deprecation next to Circle's exit from Tron and Tether's wind-down of five legacy chains. It explains what a chain retirement does to a business that holds the coin, gives five checks for choosing the networks you accept stablecoins on, and shows how non-custodial settlement puts you in control of where the money sits.

Florida stablecoin law is live: it licenses the issuer, not the business that gets paid — and the state wrote its own acceptance policy

On October 1, 2026 the core of Florida's payment stablecoin law took effect: CS/CS/HB 175, now Chapter 2026-176, Laws of Florida, which creates Part V of chapter 560 and requires an Office of Financial Regulation license (or an exemption) to act as a state-qualified payment stablecoin issuer. The same day it was signed, June 26, the Governor also approved SB 1568, the Florida Stablecoin Pilot Program, which lets the Department of Financial Services accept designated stablecoins for fees and convert them to dollars. This analysis reads the statute for what it means to a business that gets paid in stablecoins: the license covers issuing, redeeming and reserves, not acceptance; self-custody and person-to-person transfers sit outside the part; the real touchpoint is the off-ramp, where money services businesses now record payment stablecoin transactions above $10,000. It turns the state's own pilot into a five-line acceptance policy, walks through Florida use cases from Miami counters to Doral exporters, and shows where non-custodial settlement fits.

Is there a crypto payment gateway for PrestaShop?

Yes. Payzum's open-source PrestaShop module takes USDC and USDT on a hosted checkout and settles to a wallet you control. PrestaShop creates the order only when a signed webhook confirms the payment at the cart's exact total. Here are six checks for any PrestaShop crypto module, then version 1.2.0 set up step by step: install, settings, what happens at each payment status, and which PrestaShop versions it really runs on.

USDT sanctions risk: the Senate's Iran report puts Tether's freeze record on trial — what it means for merchants who accept USDT

On September 28, 2026 the minority staff of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations published Tethered to Terrorism, a 28-page preliminary report finding that 84% of 846 Iran-linked wallets designated by OFAC or Israel's NBCTF between June 2021 and August 2026 transacted exclusively or nearly exclusively in USDT. Its sharpest finding is a timing gap: of 39 addresses Israel flagged in June 2023, Tether froze five, and the rest moved $34.6 million over nine months. Tether points to nearly $550 million in Iran-linked freezes in 2026. This analysis reads the numbers carefully (a selected sample, two very different lists, no charges), explains how the GENIUS Act's foreign-issuer clause (12 U.S.C. § 5907) turns lawful-order compliance into the test for whether US platforms may keep offering a token, and maps the three practical exposures for a merchant that accepts USDT: issuer freezes, off-ramp holds and platform access. It closes with a seven-step checklist, what changes for stores, counters, exporters, payers and API sellers, and how non-custodial settlement to your own wallet keeps the processor out of the freeze chain.

OUSD rewards: Open USD went live paying the platforms that circulate it, not the people who hold it — what that means for merchants

Open USD (OUSD) went live on September 30, 2026 on Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo, issued by Stripe's Bridge, with free 1:1 mint and redemption through Mastercard, Stripe and the Visa Stablecoin Platform (Coinbase from October 1) and $1B+ in launch liquidity from its five founding partners. Its economics are the story: nearly all reserve income goes to the companies that distribute it, weighted by the supply and activity they drive, plus equity over four to five years. US law bars issuers from paying holders yield for simply holding, so the value travels through platforms, and some of them pass part of it on as rewards. This analysis explains how OUSD rewards work, shows that the pattern is already inside checkout (Shopify's USDC credits and buyer cashback), and argues that stablecoin float is turning into a marketing budget aimed at steering which token a merchant takes and where the balance sits. It closes with five questions to ask before accepting a stablecoin rewards offer, what changes for stores, exporters, counters and API sellers, and the non-custodial alternative: payments that settle straight into a wallet the merchant controls.
